If Oslo is a city divided, does it actually matter?

Many young people of today have a clear affiliation with urban district they come from. Others could care less about being categorised. Regardless, the way in which we label each other has consequences.

Fritt Ord and Si; D welcome the public to a debate entitled “A city divided?”, on Wednesday, 26 April, at Fritt Ord’s premises at Uranienborgveien 2. The doors will open at 5 p.m. Pizza will be served and assignments will be handed out. The debate will start at 6.00 p.m.

The panel will consist of:

Anujan Kathir
Yasmin Roland
and Ellen Arge

In addition, we will be joined by improvisers Mikkel Niva and Andreas Tønnesland from The other theatre, who will be our guides for the evening. Expect play with prejudices, myth busting and a feverish temperature.

5.00-6.00 p.m.: Food and mingling
6.00-6.15 p.m.: Warm up!
6.15-7.15 p.m.: Debate:

• Uniformity – appearance, style of dress, fashion, peer pressure
• Freedom and transparency – about religion, sexual orientation, sex, substance abuse, the use of social media
• Education and activism – attrition from upper secondary school, courses of study, expectations, prospects for the future
