The Dane, the Swede and the Norwegian - three lectures on public discourse in Scandinavia

The Scandinavian countries face many of the same problems and debates. However, there is little mutual reporting across national borders, and we often lack insight into what is taking place in the public space in our neighbouring countries. In a series of three lectures, the Fritt Ord Foundation has invited three prominent experts on culture, politics and industry, respectively, to present the latest perspectives on the Scandinavian countries. Each of them will deliver a fact-based lecture in a comparative Scandinavian perspective, based on the situation in his or her own home country.

Programme

Tuesday, 17 November, 7.00 p.m.: The Dane on Culture.
Featuring Bjørn Bredal, former culture editor in Politiken, now president of Borup’s College in Copenhagen, where half of the students are from other Nordic countries.

Monday, 23 November, 7.00 p.m.: The Swede on Politics.
Featuring Gøran Persson, Sweden’s Prime Minister 1996-2006 and party chair for the Swedish Social Democratic Party 1996-2007. Since then, senior adviser for the Nordic consulting company JKL.

Monday, 30 November, 7.00 p.m.: The Norwegian on Industry.
With Anita Krohn Traaseth, Norwegian business executive, author and blogger. CEO of Innovation Norway since 2014.

The moderator is Odd Inge Skjævesland, author and Nordic journalist.

The lectures are free of charge and open to the public. There will be a debate following the lectures
